Central Swindon North Parish Community Libraries in partnership with Swindon Libraries & Information Service
Donations Policy
1. CSNP Community Libraries welcomes stock donations where they supplement and complement library stock. When an offer of a stock donation is made it will be considered in relation to our collections policy and our current collection.
2. All donations are subject to the Libraries Manager’s discretion and final decision.
3. CSNP Community Libraries will only consider stock donations where they add value to the current collections. For example:
a. Items that are not currently held in stock and that are considered of interest to our library members.b. Items that currently held in stock where additional copies would enhance lending and borrowing.c. Items that possess significant financial value.
4. CSNP Community Libraries will only accept stock donations as per the following policy.

5. Those wishing to donate stock to CSNP Community Libraries must complete the form at Annex A advising us of the items the potential donor wishes to donate, and submit this to the Libraries Manager via email at LibMan@centralswindonnorth-pc.gov.uk
6. CSNP Community Libraries may visit the potential donor to assess any proposed donation before a decision to accept or reject is made.
7. Damaged or heavily worn items will not be accepted.
8. The Libraries Manager will review the proposed donation and advise the potential donor as to whether CSNP Community Libraries wishes to accept all, part of, or none of the proposed donation.
9. When a donation is accepted the donor is responsible for delivering the donation to CSNP Community Libraries. CSNP Community Libraries will not collect donations, or pay any costs relating to packaging and delivery.
10. CSNP Community Libraries reserves the right to dispose of any donated item that is not wanted. This may include, but is not exclusive of, sale, donation to another institution, or by discard.
11. Donated items added to stock will be available for library members, including members of the wider Swindon libraries network to borrow. Donors should be aware that CSNP Community Libraries cannot guarantee that any donation will be retained in perpetuity. CSNP Community Libraries reserves the right to withdraw donations from stock and dispose of them as per our policies for purchased stock.
