Tribute to Parish Council Chairman Des Moffatt
27 February 2020
Tribute from Councillor John Ballman & Parish Clerk Andy Reeves
Sadly in November 2019 our Chairman Cllr Des Moffatt passed away following a short illness.
Des was the founding Chairman of our Parish Council since its creation just three years ago. It is without doubt that it is down to Des’s dedication, duty, and his unwavering passion to local need, that enabled our Parish Council to deliver so many services, in such a short space of time.
In addition to his term on the Parish Council, Des was also a member of both Swindon & Thamesdown Borough Councils; for which he has served, with a short break, since 1983.
The Parish Council remains forever grateful to Des and our thoughts remain with Des’s wife Jean and family.

If you are a resident of Central Swindon North Parish living in Gorse Hill, Moredon, Penhill, Pinehurst, Rodbourne, or Rodbourne Cheney, we would like to hear from you regarding your use of your Community Libraries and what you would like from them in future. We are in a position to increase our total staffed opening hours from 60 to 72 hours per week and we welcome your views on when you would like your Community Libraries to be open. We'd also like to know how you use your Community Libraries now. Your answers will help inform our decisions about how your Community Libraries develop, so please take a few minutes to complete the survey and let us know your thoughts. To complete the survey, you can either click on the button to the right, or scan the QR code with your tablet or smart phone.

Pinetrees Community Centre and Pinecones Cafe invite you to join us for our 4th of July Car Boot and Table Top sale. If you'd like to book a boot space or a table please contact Simon on 07496634254, or a member of the Pinecones Cafe team. Stalls can be set up from 8am on the day. The Pinecones cafe will be serving delicious hot food and drinks with an American theme.

Our official launch day for the new Swindon Storm Home Ground is this Sunday (Super Bowl Sunday). This will be the new Home Ground for all Swindon Storm teams. It's a great facility, where we can have a dedicated, 100 yard field, with proper posts, as well as 2 x 5v5 fields, all just for our use. There are also well equipped changing rooms, toilets and kitchen facilities. You are welcome to come along from 12 midday, to watch our teams in practice, and then from 1pm onwards, those who want to, can step in and try out the sport, alongside the teams, and with fully qualified coaches. (Bring studded boots and normal sports wear). We are actively looking to recruit players aged 13+ to Adult for our teams, and shortly be starting a Cadet Flag, (non-contact) team for 8-12 yr-olds. We will be serving teas, coffees and hot chocolate, along with American-style hot dogs. The address is: Southbrook Playing Fields, Pinehurst Road, Swindon, SN2 1RH Come along and just watch, or get stuck in and take part!
